Routes

Most DC Metrobus routes operate inside the Washington DC borders. However, some routes would venture into small parts of Montgomery County and Prince George's County to connect to various stations in the Hub-and-spoke system via the old Streetcar routing. Route naming is based on the jurisdiction(s) it is in. If it is within D.C., it receives a C prefix (or D prefix if it enters downtown). The examples being routes C2 and D12. It receives a P and/or M if the route is within Prince George's County and/or Montgomery County. Maryland. The examples being route P100 and M13. It receives an F prefix if the route is within Fairfax County and/or City of Falls Church, Virginia. An example being the route F1. Finally, it receives an A prefix if the route is within the City of Alexandria and/or Arlington County, Virginia. An example being the A75. Though, some routes cross into more than one jurisdictions, as shown by the routes FA50, PC42, PM1, PA93, MD82, etc.. There are some limited stop routes that reflect the local routes. The have an "x" suffix. The examples being D1x, C1x, MD8x, etc.. There are also some routes that begin with X, usually if they are an express route. Examples being the X11, X29, and X44
